Remote working is a trend, but it has a lot of uncertainties around it. A lot of people are working now remotely but a big part of companies want to ask their employees to come back to the office when the pandemic will be over. Some of them already did it, but I think the future of work is remote, and below are seven reasons why it's like this.
- Productivity. A lot of companies reported productivity improvements. Despite working from home, people have done their jobs well. Of course, some companies reported the opposite, but I believe is their operations that need improvement rather than employees' fault.
- Reduce costs of time and money for everyone. Employees don't spend time anymore going to the office and coming back home. Meanwhile, companies reduced fixed costs with offices' rent and other activities which are not available in a remote environment.
- Focus on results. Remote working means less micromanagement and more focus on deliverables. In the end, it is better for everyone. Both employers and employees want to pay and get paid for work done, not for time spent in the office.
- Work-life balance. It's not easy to create a balance between work and life when you work remotely, but those who do it will enjoy life even more. Work and personal life could be blended nicely, and we can go past the traditional 9 to 5 working schedule.
- Work from different places. Or work from anywhere if you have an asynchronous team. Working remotely means people can work from home, coffee shops, coworkings, other cities, countryside, other countries, other continents if you meet your company rules and do your job. It is something a lot of people took advantage of and remains a strong point of working remotely.
- Flexibility. People like freedom and the feeling of not being followed, which often happened in offices. Now everyone can do whatever he wants as long as the results are there at the end of the day.
- International opportunities. Traditionally, companies employed people from the same city, and people searched for work locally. Now employees can apply for companies all over the world, and companies have access to a global pool of talent. It's a win-win situation.
